The Day I Was Born
On February 12th, 1994 I was born. Early that morning my mother woke up with the feeling of a full bladder, and the gush of her water breaking. She made a few phone calls to everyone telling them it is time and then was off to the hospital with her parents.
Once she checked into the hospital she was hooked up to monitors and cords for this and cords for that and being asked hundreds of questions. After being put on medication to make her contractions stronger and a pretty painful but un-forgetful labor I was born. She say was one of the happiest moments in her life when she held me in her arms for the first time.
Early that morning she woke up with the urge to go to the bathroom and a gush of fluid came out, which is nothing new, she was 8 months pregnant. As she was walking to the bathroom she felt another gush of what she thought was urine. She went to the bathroom and did her business and then went to lie on the couch there she had another gush of fluid that’s when she knew that her water had broken.
She quickly called her doctor and told him that she thought that her water had broken. Just a few minutes later the doctor called her back and asked her some questions and then told her to go to the hospital. Her doctor called the hospital when they got off the phone to let them know that she was on her way. She called my grandmother and said its time, She said ok I will be over in a few minutes. After getting off the phone with her she called her best friend Shina and she didn’t answer. She tried a few more times before she left in her car to go to her mom house and tried calling Shina again and still didn’t get an answer. She got to her mom house and she was still trying to get her hair and make-up done. My mom told her forget that stuff we have to go. It was a ten-minute ride to the hospital but my mother said it seemed like forever.
They get to Ingles Hospital in Harvey Illinois and the doctors...
